Rolling Stone presents:

Sophie Auster

Next Time Tour 2019

Elliot Stigle
When you listen to the latest single by New Yorker songwriter, you might catch yourself even in the grimmest winter time thinking that you’re in the country of the songtitle: “Mexico”. The sound of Sophie Austers husky, lascivious voice, a story of sun, dust, dangerous love affairs, a nostalgic film noire mood, paired with a Mariachi horn section you can’t help but be dragged into her world speed down the highway in a convertible. This declaration of love for heart is absolutely needed, otherwise everyone would just say: Paul Austers daughter is making music. Because of course she is the daughter of critically acclaimed authors Paul Auster and Siri Hustvedt, but moreover she is a fascinating actress and songwriter who performed jazz-standards while still being a teenager. We could witness that on her last album “Dogs and Men”.
“Next Time” is due to be released on March 15th and takes the adventurous songwriting a little further from “Mexico” to the hypnotic crooning on “Tom C” or a sad jazz song like “Black Water”. Sophie Auster is now set to play the new songs at the following shows in Germany.
