Back in February 2018 when the debut of the Mildlife was released The Guardian labeled the band’s music as virtuoso space-jazz magic, which seems to be a well-fitting description of the four-piece from Melbourne. Improvised rhythms, an almost magical interaction between the musicians, kraut like keyboard sounds and melodies that will catapult you to the Beteigeuze-system and you’ll be able to just float on shimmering sound spheres.
We know this sounds highfalutin, but do yourself a favour and listen to the band’s newest eleven minutes! single “Phase II” and you’ll know what we mean. As virtuosic and mindblowing Mildlifes music is on record, watching them live will be on another level. As their passionate interplay is added and you have the feeling that you could almost know what the four Australians are thinking and feeling while they’re capturing the audience with their space-jazz magic.
