It’s tough to narrow the music of this young Londoner down to just one genre. Oscar Jerome studied classical guitar and jazz in his hometown and contemporary jazz festival like to book him on their bill but calling him a jazz musician wouldn’t do him justice. He recently said that his music is definitely influenced by jazz but you can also hear some hiphop, punk, some western african music and also some soul in his songs. But he also feels that to be labeled „jazz“ is not a bad thing anymore and he is right thanks to young musicians like himself, Moses Boyd, Kamasi Washington, BadBadNotGood or Sons Of Kemet it is generally known that jazz one of the most open genres around and not just some hotel lobby background music. Oscar Jerome’s big advantage is his soothing baritone voice which he showcased on his most recent single „Misty Head / Sunny Street“. On Easter Monday Oscar Jerome is bound to play his first headline show in Germany at Badehaus in Berlin.
