After numerous singles like “Do You Really” or “Give Back What You Stole from Me”, the young Londoner, Oscar Jerome, will finally release his debut album this summer called “Breathe Deep”. According to Jerome, it will be a multi-faceted display of his musical development. The progression of this ‘young Brit with the smooth voice’ is in fact exciting.
He studied Jazz and classical guitar, but learned his craft mostly in the up and coming, diverse jazz scene of London where this almost antique genre is being revived.
His most recent single “Your Saint” gives us high hopes for what is to come. The politically charged song looks at the situation regarding Syrian refugees, and the double standards of Europe’s way of handling the refugee crisis. He recorded the song with the members of the afro-beat collective, Kokoroko, and the rapper, Brother Portrait. The earlier released single “Sun for Someone” is a shimmering, atmospheric jazz/soul//funk/pop bastard with heart and attitude. The Album is to be released in July.
