The current singles "Romeo Must Die" and "Bye Bye" have proven it once again: Gaddafi Gals don't like to tread water musically. While their perhaps most popular songs "fila" and "the death of papi" were quite a raw, dark affair between the spherical R'n'B hooklines and rap parts, they now seem to have tweaked their sound: The new singles crackle and wobble, the synths are crystalline cold, the voice all warmer in return, almost as if they tried to mix the experimental tracks of FKA twigs with Aaliyah vibes. But really, it's futile to compare Gaddafi Gals to other names, as the Berlin-based collective brings their own story to the table. Again on this album, producer walter p99 arkestra manages to give the Gaddafi Gals Slimgirl Fat and Ebow a trademark sound that can easily compete on the international stage.
The new album, which is also called "Romeo Must Die", will be released in September - shortly after that their tour will start.
