Gods of Rap Tour 2019 | hosted and presented by DJ Premier
When two weeks ago the Gods Of Rap UK dates were announced internet gasped. Wu-Tang Clan? Public Enemy? De La Soul? Together on one stage? WTF! This makes you almost forget that with DJ Premier there is another Rap-heavyweight on the bill. Legendary DJ and producer (“Gang Starr”) will host the night. We probably don’t even have to educate trap- or cloud-rap kids with the status of these acts. Wu-Tang Clan (RZA, GZA, Method Man, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Raekwon, Masta Killa, Cappadonna) with its unique emcees, their aggressive rap that makes the punk song blush and their dark surrealism that was completely new to hiphop at that time. Their debut “Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)” is rightly considered an absolute masterpiece. Public Enemy on the other hand became the voice of black America in 1988 and scared off some people with their powerful, brilliant themed record “It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Down”. One year later De La Soul released their debut “3 Feet High And Rising”, with its cool and smooth flows over jazzy beats, brought to perfection on songs like “Potholes In My Lawn” or “Me, Myself & I”. You most likely find the album on every well curated top 50 albums of all time listing. It is to be believed that all three artists will primarily play songs of the above mentioned albums and thankfully play one exclusive show in Germany. A once in a lifetime event and a clear message: “Bring da moutherfuckin’ ruckus” to Wuhlheide!
