Their presence is mysterious yet tantalizing. Three individuals, barely visible cast in deep hoods, caught in rhythmic or catlike movements through the shades and the sparse lights. In the past two years the Icelandic trio has left their home soil in Reykjavik every now and then to play their dark electropop across European stages. 2018 saw the release of their awaited debut album for which we have been waiting since the release of their single “Water Plant” and “Ruins”. The band surveys nothing else but the worldly boundaries they lay wistfully whispered and wailing vocals over fragmented sounds. The album was released in November and aYia will play their first headline show in Berlin May 17 at Kantine am Berghain.
