Testspiel.de, Kulturnews and Deutschlandfunk Nova present:
The Amsterdam based band around Mastermind and singer Koen van de Wardt, is able to trigger ones inner cinema like no other. Their debut from 2016 had the fitting name “Close Eyes To Exit” and the instrumental opener “Doolhof” instantly pulled the listener into an undertow of melody and melancholy. Post-rock-elegy paired with atmospheric pop-sounds, that left space for images in your head, gently guided by van de Wardts bright voice. The second upcoming studio album by Klangstof bears a similar mysterious name “The Noise You Make Is Silent”. The first pre released single is called “Attack Attack” was also is the first song van de Wardt wrote for the album. “I’m a rock, I’m a mountain / The heavy weight on your shoulders”, he sings in this dark, sizzling, zigzagging electronic pop song.
According to the singer the recordings to the album have been more like scientific studies in which the band members tested a number of sound effects and created a wealth of unusual sounds by using pedals, laptops and drum machines. Based on this description you can already imagine how it will look like on stage when Klangstof present the new album live in March.
